It is my pleasure to announce that we have finished the pre-selection process of the companies that submitted applications to the first round of the ALABC soft-landing program. We received a total of 29 applications and pre-selected 4 representing the METS, FinTech and AgTech industries.

ALABC is pleased to announce the arrival of MI Robotics Solutions (MIRS) to Melbourne, Australia. A leading international provider of robotic solutions for challenging environments in the mining and heavy industries.
With headquarters in Santiago, Chile, MIRS specialises in the design, engineering, manufacturing and service support of hi-tech robot automation solutions built with cutting-edge technology.
The office in Melbourne opened in March this year, and is lead by Mr. Mehrdad Akbari, Sales Director APAC & Africa. Mehrdad has over 20 years of international and local experience with top global industrial robotics brands such as ABB and KUKA.
MIRS products will have an impactful contribution to the Australian mining industry as robot-based automation in mining brings a lot of advantage to the segment such as increased safety, productivity and quality, while lowering the production cost.
MIRS just joined ALABC as a member in September 2021.

The next phase will consist of preparing a custom-made roadmap developed with the professional advice of ALABC members that have signed up for the program. We are an accounting and finance startup that provides services to entrepreneurs and SMEs through a perfect combination of the best accountants and the best technology. We have developed an app where entrepreneurs or SMEs take photographs of their daily sales and expense invoices and with a solid accounting and financial team we do all the accounting and all legal obligations in tax, labor and banking matters. If the invoice is electronic, as we go along, we develop a robot that takes that electronic invoice and places it in an online accounting system.

ALABC is pleased to announce that Colombia will have a stand at Expo Dubai, and Colombia's mining sector led by the Agency will have an exclusive showcase in it, “Colombia Beyond El Dorado”, which will take place between the 31st of October and the 3rd of November of 2021.
The Agency will be presenting the main advances of Colombia´s mining activity, new projects for potential investors as well as a reflexion on the future role of mining on relation to opportunity, mobility and sustainability.

Hydrogen in Latin America From near-term opportunities to large-scale deployment
The momentum for low-carbon hydrogen is growing in Latin America, with many countries currently developing long-term hydrogen strategies and a project pipeline of more than 25 projects, including several gigawatt-scale projects to export it beyond the region. In this report we analyse both the region’s potential to play a major role in the future low-carbon hydrogen landscape, and the role that low-carbon hydrogen could play in Latin America’s own clean energy transitions.

Cuba allows small and medium-sized private businesses
Cuba's communist government has legalised small and medium-sized private businesses in the wake of mass anti-government protests last month.
Under the new rules, enterprises with up to 100 employees will be allowed.
President President Miguel Díaz-Canel said Cuba was taking firm steps to update its economic model.

Porsche's synthetic fuel plant is underway
Porsche has announced that work is underway on its new synthetic fuel plant in Chile, which will produce 550 million litres of fuel by 2026.
According to the company, the fuel will be able to be used in any Porsche in its current range without modification. It will be rolled out to its one-make 911 Supercup race series next year before being made available for passenger cars.

On Thursday 26th August 2021, the Australia-Chile Business Council hosted the Perth Annual Dinner 2021 for a celebration of the growing relationship between Australia and Latin America. This event featured numerous special guests from the Lithium and Electromobility sector who participated in a panel specially curated for the links between the two regions. A very special thank you to the Hon. Bill Johnston MLA, Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Energy and Corrective Services for providing the keynote address for the event. We would also like to congratulate Edgar Basto, President Minerals Australia BHP, for accepting the award recognising Edgar's achievements as an outstanding Latin American business leader.
