The Port of Rotterdam wants to supply Europe with hydrogen imported from Latin America and Australia


The Port of Rotterdam could supply 4.6 million mt/ year of hydrogen to Europe by 2030 from local production and imports, it said. The figure was based on "specific projects and realistic plans" that companies and exporting countries are working on, the Port of Rotterdam Authority said.

Mexico seeks lithium association with Argentina, Bolivia and Chile


Mexico is working with governments of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile to create a lithium association so the countries can share their expertise to exploit the battery mineral, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Tuesday.

Qantas to return to Santiago from October 31


South America lands back on the Qantas network later this year, with October 31 pencilled in as the restart date of direct flights between Australia and the Chilean capital on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

Argentina expects $4.2bn investment in its lithium sector


Argentina expects to receive a $4.2 billion combined investment in its growing lithium market over the next five years, which would help the country double production in 2023 to reach 175,000 tonnes of the battery metal in 2025.

German renewables company Enertrag AG announced today a project to develop the Tambor Green Hydrogen Hub in Uruguay's department of Tacuarembo to produce large amounts of hydrogen and its derivatives.

Costa Rica power cooperative cleared to issue green bonds


Costa RIca's securities regulator has authorized power cooperative Coopenguanacaste to issue green bonds for 31bn colones (US $46m). The funds will be used for the Huacas solar park and a municipal solid waste gasification project in Belén de Carrillo.

Colombia can lead the energy transition in Latin America


As the gateway to South America, Colombia has the potential to be a world class producer of renewable energy. Access to  both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans- the only such place in South America- allows for the formation of mature, global maritime networks for renewable energy exports. BHP plots $10b investment in Chile

Sydney Annual Dinner 2022


On the 28th of April 2022, ALABC was proud to host our Sydney Annual Dinner at the NSW Parliament in Sydney.


What an excellent turnout from our members and guests from all over Australia and Latin America who we were delighted to have in attendance.

This year ALABC awarded Ms Carolina Giraldo, Founder and Creative Director of Carolina Lifestyle the Latin American Leadership Award for 2022.


What a privilege it was to hear from our guest speaker, The Honourable Stuart Ayres MP in this incredibly exciting time for Australian and Latin American Businesses. Minister Ayres is immensely optimistic about the future of the global economy, as he indicated in his speech - it is now up to our businesses, organisations and governments to really build the valuable connections that are going to surge us out of the economic impacts of the pandemic.
