Chile Mining Law: Mining royalty news update
A mining royalty consists of a specific tax levied on large mining companies in consideration of the fact that they exploit limited and non-renewable natural resources. While the miming sector will often react negatively to the thought of additional taxes, the philosophy behind a mining royalty is that the communities and areas where multinational mining companies work in should also be able to enjoy and share in the vast profits that these operations see.
In Chile, this government backed initiative was promoted with the aim of modifying the taxes that large companies in the mining sector pay, while establishing a wider distribution of resources to regional governments and municipalities throughout the country.

Chile details its national lithium strategy
When Chilean President Gabriel Boric announced preliminary plans for a national lithium strategy in April - one that would increase government participation in the lucrative sector, details were scarce. Investors gained some clarity last week when the Chilean government released a 33 page document that expands upon its initial pledges with specific timelines and targets. Chile is currently the world's second-largest producer of lithium, a critical mineral that is used in electric car batterie and key to the global green energy transition. Currently, only two companies mine lithium in Chile: Chilean firm SQM, which is nearly a quarter owned by a Chinese company, and US firm Albermarle. They are both private and operate in the largest of the country's more than 40 salt flats that are home to lithium reserves.

Chadwick Downs Cattle Company
We are Australia's largest Beef Cattle genetics exporter to Latin America and. are keen to expand our network in this region further and collaborate with other businesses dealing there. Our stud's genetics can be found in more than 70% of the Argentine Braford cattle herd which is the proud result of 25 years of exporting to that country. We've been breeding Brafords and Brangus Cattle since 1982 and are passionate about sustainably producing efficient and easy-care cattle that are not only profitable but tread lightly in the environment. Brafords have been at the heart of our breeding program for over 30 years with our genetics being used in more than 15 countries on 4 continents across a whole range of production systems and climates. You'll find Chadwick Downs in the rugged Warrumbungle mountains in NW NSW.
The country provides a a stunning backdrop of tough terrain and harsh climate. Our Brafords have been bred under real-world conditions, selected for fertility, adaptability & efficiency off grass and our cows are expected to perform without the support of winter crops or supplements. In turn, this means our bulls and the progeny they produce, will perform exceptionally well under varied conditions. We have a proud history of exporting frozen semen and embryos to Argentina, Brasil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Colombia and Mexico and have strong relationships within the beef cattle industry in South America.
