Guatemala's President explains why investors have his country all wrong... Exclusive Interview
If you look at Guatemala City, you will see more than 140 buildings going up right now. More than 2 million square metres of construction will be built in the capital in 2022 and 2023, most of which is much-needed living space. We have tried to facilitate all investment, doing things no government had done before. We are installing a one-stop-shop for exports, because export permissions were also taking too long. The pandemic taught us that we need to be more agile to take advantage of opportunities.

Latin America's second pink tide looks very different from the first
Gustavo Petro’s upcoming inauguration on August 7 as Colombia’s first left-wing president confirms an unmistakable trend in Latin American politics: Only five years after right-leaning leaders occupied presidential palaces in much of the region—including Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico—leftist candidates have won the vast majority of national elections and now govern all of the region’s major countries except Brazil, where former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva holds a comfortable lead less than 100 days ahead of the presidential election.

Behind in polls, Bolsanaro is shunning his own campaign's advice
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s political allies and marketing advisers are struggling to convince him to run a more conventional re-election campaign, as he seeks to emulate his success with social media in the 2018 vote.
Calls for more attention to TV advertising as well as guidance on topics that should be addressed or avoided in public are usually ignored by the president and even mocked by his inner circle, according to a political ally and people working on his campaign.

Colombia's economy may yet catch up to the hype
Few nations event extra potential optimism than Colombia, but the fact falls in need of the promise. The nation seems to be doing effectively, so if you happen to go to Colombia, as I did over the past week, it turns into a form of referendum on the wealth of countries. Which do you have to imagine extra – the commonly constructive proof earlier than your eyes, or the mediocre laborious numbers?
